8 Ways to Dare Your Happiness! — Free Guide  getit

Hey there,

I’m Jen, the big cheese here at Daring Happiness. I’m also known as:

[embed_popupally_pro popup_id=”2″]

One who transforms happiness as we know it into something different; something more attainable, longer-lasting, and more fulfilling.

As the fearless leader (a.k.a. the big cheese) of The Daring Happiness Revolution, I am redefining and revolutionizing happiness. I believe that it is our endless pursuit of happiness that is actually making us unhappy.

The Daring Happiness Revolution is a practice to help us all live a more wholehearted, daring life. I developed this practice from many years of education, being a seeker of truth + spirit since my youth, my work with hundreds of clients, and from my own life experience + healing journey.

The ironic truth is…

The constant pursuit of happiness is not serving us. Happiness comes when we aren’t looking for it. When we recognize that we are exactly where we should be; dressed in our humanity, unabashedly being our perfectly imperfect + vulnerable selves, and pursuing meaning instead of happiness.

It’s time to get out of your own way.

It takes vulnerability to look at how we are holding ourselves back, and that’s really fucking brave. We are perfectly imperfect. Our imperfections are actually what makes us “perfect”. We aren’t bad, unworthy, or unloveable. Shame doesn’t rule our lives anymore. And I’m the first to admit that as a wounded healer I’m living proof of what I preach.

This is what I was born to do!

I hold a safe space while we get curious about your life, go spelunking into the dark + shadowy places, and hold those beautiful places up into the light with kind + fierce compassion. You are worthy of love + belonging. I hold that belief for you until you can believe it yourself. Together, let’s uncover the strategies + patterns that are keeping you small, and begin to shift them with The 13 Spirits of The Daring Happiness Revolution!

“Good things come to those who wait, but great things come to those who dare.”

Why I chose to become The Happiness Alchemist…

about imageI’m not your average counselor/therapist/coach. I don’t fit into one category. I only call myself those things at times because it’s just easier to explain. But the truth is, I am much more than all that.

I am a healer. I am a thought leader. I am a laughter ninja. I am a world changer. I am a beacon.

I’ve always been one to push the envelope in most things that I do. It’s my Aquarian duty.

I really try to “be the change” I wish to see in the world. The only way we can change things is to starting doing them differently. One of the biggest things I have wanted to change for a long time is the stigma and judgment of mental illness, going to therapy, shame, having any flaws, etc.

This grew out of my own personal healing journey. I have had my own struggles with depression and anxiety, and therapy has consistently been the thing that has helped me the most. After being in therapy for a few years, I realized that I wanted to be able to do the same thing for others that my therapist was able to do for me. That was almost 10 years ago. It has been an incredible journey of higher education, soul-searching, tons of trainings + workshops, lots of life experiences, truly finding, accepting, + loving myself, and amazing work with clients.

Currently I am a Registered Licensed Professional Counseling Intern in the State of Oregon and earning the rest of my hours towards licensure. I am under the supervision of Donna Roy, LPC, CHT and Anne-Marie Benjamin, LPC. My Registered Intern number is R3016, and you can verify it here.

I only see my counseling clients in my office here in beautiful Portland, Oregon. If you are interested, check out my counseling services page.

I also work with clients who live outside of the Portland area. I offer coaching services via phone or video chat. If you are interested, check out my current coaching packages.

Some Fun Truths About Me…

  • One of my favorite indulgences is yummy takeout paired with watching TV shows like Grimm (Yay Portland!) or Orange is the New Black…and movies like Sliding Doors or Anchorman. Or reading in my hammock…which often turns into napping in my hammock.
  • I can’t live without my sweet dogs Bella and Buckley, music by Ani DiFranco, technology, and rain (convenient, since I live in Portland). Hashtag pluviophile.
  • My top three favorite ways to sweat are dancing like a nerd in my living room, hiking in Forest Park, and rearranging my house for the 5th time this year.
  • My biggest weakness is Spold from Montage. It’s yummier than it sounds.
  • One thing most people don’t know about me is that I am “The Everywhere Girl.” Google it. It’s a thing. A really weird thing.
  • Before I started leading The Daring Happiness Revolution, I used to be a Support Group Facilitator for Adult Survivors of Childhood Sexual Abuse at Portland Women’s Crisis Line (PWCL). Intense and fulfilling work.
  • To me living it up is to Be Bold. Be Daring. Go For It. Even when you are really fucking scared. Feel the fear and do it anyway. Follow your dreams, tell that person you like them, tell people who you are, don’t change yourself to please others. Have fun and play, no matter what! Be nerdy, silly, and completely UNCOOL. I’ll be right there with ya!
